Signs of Scotland

It appears I have been negligent in sharing tales of my Scottish endeavors.

This is not due to lack of desire. Simply put, when faced with writing or chatting with new friends on trains, taking on an extra course at a tasty restaurant, or simply looking out of a coach window as I winded through the Scottish countryside, I chose the latter options. That and I wanted to take the time to put the experiences in my head down in a way that allow you and I to relive them together. Oh, and sleep became more and more important.

Fear not, I will regale you with stories of the Highlands in due course.

In the interim, please enjoy these signs of Scotland. I find that they are both more descriptive and amusing than those of my usual acquaintance.

My personal favorite

Endearing, though I wonder how the aged population views this sign. I also have not seen one Scot that resembles this picture. Maybe it’s to warn the locals about slow tourists.

A bit more interesting than “Put Litter in its Place.”

?!

A picture worth a thousand words

For Julia

A bit disappointing considering I thought imbibing of alcohol was a Scottish right regardless of location. I do appreciate the choice of a stout for the picture.

No need for the Japanese tourist to translate this one

A reminder for my taxi driver in case of troublesome tourists

Note: this sign was not at an airport, a ferry terminal, train station or anywhere near a car rental facility. It was in Glencoe, 30 minutes minimum from any of the above, outside a cafe. Posted just in case, after driving to a scone-serving establishment, one might throw caution to the wind upon departure and pick a new side of the road upon which to drive.

Because we don’t want our walkers dead

Hmmmmm . . .

“Don’t drive off the pier” -a good warning

More fun than “Main Street”

I know you are smiling

and . . . pets?

Anyone else find this perplexing?
